*Quick Announcement*
Before I get into the main point of this post, I have a few announcements to make. I’m pretty much going to change the format of this blog. In the past I’ve talked about the difference between “bloggy” posts and journalistic articles (or wannabe journalistic articles). Since I’m writing for Real Otaku Gamer now, I’ve decided against posting my more “journalistic” articles on this blog. I guess I’m trying to say this blog will be more personal and opinionated posts, but it will be on the same subject matter as games, comics, movies, tv, and whatever else. It just doesn’t make sense to double post the same articles to two different websites.
I’m a little behind on my comic book reading right now. A lot of great issues have been out this week that I haven’t gotten around to reading yet, including Captain Marvel, Deadpool, Batman, Batgirl, and Hawkeye. However, I feel like I’m greatly missing out. You see, for the past year I’ve favored Marvel above all else. I’d really like to get back around to reading DC. In the past I’ve written about just jumping into the middle of things, but that hasn’t worked out for me lately. With DC, they don’t provided an intro before the comic like Marvel does, so it’s hard to know what’s going on. I can’t just say,” I’m going to jump into Superman today,” and understand what’s going on.
I want to fix this. That’s why I’m going to spend extra time with DC comics. I’ll be reading the older New 52 issues so I’ll have a better chance to see what’s going on. I will say though, that I have kept up with Batman and Batgirl for the past year or so. In that case, my effort won’t be too brutal. I think the best way to accomplish my goal is to start with trade paperbacks. I’m really interested in The Flash and I’ve heard great things about the comics. I’ve read a few newer issues here and there and loved it.
Today is new comic book day, so I have last week to catch up on. Sorry if this post was too rambly, but that’s pretty much how it’s going to be from now on. Writing more casually like this also means I’ll be able to write more often.
Let me know in the comments what comics you’re picking up today!
Batman Eternal is coming out this month, so it seems like the perfect series to jump on, so you wouldn’t have to catch up on anything. The Harley Quinn series is also very enjoyable.
