Sorry I’ve been a little silent lately. I spent the weekend in Lexington, KY for Lexington Toy and Comic Con. It was awesome and the first convention I’d ever gone to.
Unfortunately, since I’m a night shift worker, I had trouble sleeping at night after being up all day. Because of that, I pretty much stayed awake for three days straight. I just woke up after trying to catch up on my sleep.
The best parts of the con were the William Shatner Q&A, for which I was in the front row, and the George Takei Q&A. I also loved all the cosplay, although the best ones didn’t even take part in the contest.
I’ll for sure be doing a writeup on William Shatner’s panel, so watch out for that. George Takei’s panel wasn’t so much about Star Trek, so I don’t know if I’ll do something separate on him or not.
I’m really excited to go to another convention. The next big one I’m going to is Fandom Fest in Lousiville which will be in August. They have some great guests, such as the majority of the cast of Star Trek TNG and some people from Firefly.
There’s also something called Tri-Con in my hometown at the end of May, but it’s a little convention that is strictly for comic books. The two guests I’m excited to see are Gail Simone and and Daniel Way. I’m actually shocked that they’re coming to my town in the middle of nowhere.
I’m also back into cosplay. I saw some really great stuff at Lex-con and I’m inspired to get back into it. I’m going to finish up my Poison Ivy. All I really need is shoes, colored contacts, and to style my wig. My other ideas for the next con are to do a weeping angel from Doctor Who and I’m trying to get my boyfriend on board for reverse Annie and Tibbers.
That’s about all I got going on right now. I’m doing some test streams on Twitch to test out my settings and internet connection. Pretty soon I’ll actually be talking and having a webcam. I’m just testing out the basics and making sure I’m not lagging to bad right now.
