Good news for anyone interested in buying a Playstation Vita – the new slim version of the handheld will be available in a $199 Borderlands 2 bundle on May 31. The PS Vita slim will be 15% lighter, making it easier and more comfortable to carry around. Other new features of the slim are an internal 1 GB of storage, which will be great for system updates. The OLED screen is changing to a LCD, but will have the same resolution and actually give you longer battery life. Also, the data port is being replaced by a micro USB like on the Playstation 4 controller.
The great thing about the Borderlands 2 bundle is that it comes with an 8 GB memory card. You get most of the DLC for the game as well, including Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty, Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, the Psycho Character Class, Mechromancer Character Class, Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1, and Collector’s Edition Pack.
I think $199 is a good deal for a Vita, especially a brand new slim model that comes with an 8 GB memory card and new game. If you subscribe to Playstation Plus, you also get free downloads for 2-3 Vita games per month, as well as Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 games. I’ve had Playstation Plus for a little less than a year now, and if I had a Vita all this time, I would have had a lot of free games.
If you’ve been on the fence about getting a Vita, I think the release of the Borderlands 2 bundle would be a great time to get one.
I don’t think I would ever own one. I’ve already owned Borderlands 2 three times already. It just doesn’t compare to the 3DS in my opinion.

Ruh roh. I’ve been holding out getting a Vita for a while now, but the new slim model is mighty shiny…
