I really couldn’t be happier right now. I’m a couple days into my 11 day vacation, my birthday is next Monday, and I can literally do whatever I want for a whole week. I’ve felt a little aimless, however, because I didn’t really make plans for how I was going to spend these 11 days. I’ve got eight days left now and I’ve got to make them count. I thought with recent news about how pre-ordering Warlords of Draenor will get you an automatic free level 90 upgrade, why not get back into World of Warcraft. It hasn’t really been that long since I’ve played last, maybe a few weeks. I still have 19 days left on my subscription. Why not?
So, 5 a.m. rolls around and I’m pretty bored. I get this seemingly awesome idea to go back to the first server I ever played on (Stormrage) and make a brand new character. I decided on a human mage, just because I’ve played Horde for so long and I always played alliance whenever I played on Stormrage originally. So I get no more than three quests in, I’ve got my add-ons finally perfected, and I get a message – cross-realm shutdown in 15:00. It turns out there’s a very long maintenance period from 3 am PST to 11 am PST. That’s my whole day off! I can remember back in the days of Vanilla where you never got to play on a Tuesday. It was catch up on real life day.
That’s just my luck and pretty much a good way to sum up my whole eight year experience with World of Warcraft. I don’t know how I feel about this new level 90 character boost. I guess it’s the same as the instant level boost you get for the Refer a Friend program, where you can pick a character to boost five levels below max. I’m going to try to do it the natural way and get as many characters to 90 as I can before Warlords of Draenor comes out.
In other life news, I traded in a ton of games at GameStop today and actually got $76 back. I spent $70 on Steam cards, which I have no idea why. The other $6 went to pre-ordering Destiny, so I can play the beta soon. So far with my Steam money, I’ve bought The Banner Saga and I’m going to save the rest for Broken Age and Octodad when they come out. I kind of wish I had used my trade credit for World of Warcraft time instead.
Anyway, I’d like to hear what you all think about being able to get a free level 90 for WoW. So far, I haven’t heard any huge complaints, so let me know in the comments below!
I’m actually excited by the 90 boost. I’ve been a bit of an altoholic since I started WoW (about 8 years ago), and it took forever to get a 60 since I kept toon swapping. Now I have 2 90s and 8 85s (every class but priest, which is only 71), but After only leveling through pandaria once (used arch skill to level my DK) I am already tired of the place. I recently started leveling Horde (all other 11 are alli and on same server) so I plan to get my UD rogue to 90 the normal way, but I would be happy to have a second Horde 90 and would use the free one for that. Having played every class to high level, it’s not like I’m missing out on anything, so I’m just excited to have more options! Sorry for the long comment. 😛

I’m the worst at being an altoholic plus I haven’t played as much as I use to since Cataclysm came out.

I raided on my monk (first 90) for a while and it was fun, but I burnt out, only recently back and just leveling alts now.
