Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is set to release at the end of the month, and I must say, Holy Crap this is a beautiful game. I haven’t been too much of a fan of the Assassin’s Creed games. I’m just not a stealth kind of girl. I’m more of a Leeroy Jenkins, run and gun type, so I generally get really frustrated with stealth games and stop playing them after an hour. I think this game will be worth learning to be stealthy though. I really can’t say I’ve seen a more beautiful game. Maybe it’s making me think of Skyrim with all the graphical mods?
I’ve done my research on this game to see if it’s worth the $59.99 on day one. The first thing that got me excited is that Assassin’s Creed IV is open world, even than any of the other AC games. You know how in Assassin’s Creed III how linear the first act was? Not so much In Assassin’s Creed IV. You actually get to start the open world part much sooner. I seriously cannot wait to explore the islands and search for burried treasure.
Also, did I mention you get a boat? That’s right, you get your own boat, which you upgrade throughout the game and you get to recruit your own crew, kind of like Brotherhood. You just can’t use your crew for combat or assassinations. Another cool thing you get – a spyglass. It helps you determine who’s in those faraway ship and what’s in their cargo as well as lets you see if faraway islands will have treasure or good hunting spots.
I’ve worked the releases for Assassin’s Creed II, Brotherhood, and Revelations back in my GameStop days and never saw what the big deal was. I mean, Ubisoft comes out with a new Assassin’s Creed every year. I think this year has changed my mind. I guess all you have to do is put any old game franchise in a beautiful setting, be sure to emphasize open world, and I’m a believer.
The game releases on the Xbox360, Playstation 3, and Wii U on October 29. Unfortunately, I will not be purchasing it on this day. I’ll be waiting until November 19, when it releases on PC. I really want to push my Nvidia GeForce 765 to the limit with this one. The game will also be released on the next gen system’s launchdates – November 15 for Playstation 4, and November 22 for XboxOne. Most game retailers will let you trade in your “old version” for the next gen version and give you the next gen upgrade for $9.99.
