This Wednesday marks the release of the second issue from the newest Star Wars comic book series entitled The Star Wars. In my review of the first issue *HERE*, I went into the back story of what this new series is all about. Basically, this series is based off of the first draft that George Lucas ever wrote for the first Star Wars movie, which he originally called “The Star Wars.”
In the first issue, we saw some things that completely challenged everything we thought we knew about Star Wars. Luke Skywalker is a middle-aged general, Princess Leia is a teenage about to go off to college, and Darth Vader pretty much looks like a normal guy.
The first issue set up the story for the main characters, but issue #2 goes more into depth of how the war is going from Luke Skywalker’s point of view. As we already know, he is the general of the Aquilean army and his old Jedi friend Kane has put him up to the task of training his teenage son Annikin to be a Jedi.
The war is starting and we get to see the Death Star. We also get to see the scene in A New Hope where R2D2 and C3PO escape on the life pod, only this time, R2D2 talks!
Issue #3 is going to be called “Rise of the Sith,” and I really can’t wait to see where the story goes from there. I give this issue an A+ and I would normally just say, “I’ll tell you everything that happened in this issue so you don’t have to read it yourself,” but I have to say when it comes to The Star Wars, you really just have to experience it for yourself!
